Our mission is to blend old world craftsmanship with distinctive design, modern materials, and sustainability to provide our customers with homes they will enjoy for a lifetime. We listen to our customers,  respond to their needs, and treat them honestly and courteously.

Our History

Drawn by its livability and temperate climate, Greg and Rose Christianson moved from Dillingham, Alaska to Corvallis in 1986.  Greg obtained his contractor’s license and opened G. Christianson Construction, Inc. that year.  The business grew steadily and hired experts as its reputation for excellence spread.  With over 75 years of combined experience in construction, our superintendents have extensive knowledge of all aspects of remodeling and new construction, plus the desire to learn innovative building techniques.  In 2008, the  business moved to its current offices at 644 NW 4th Street in Corvallis.

A Family Owned Company

G. Christianson Construction is a family-owned company. We treat our employees like family because we believe any small business should be run that way.  We offer very competitive salaries and benefits, including health insurance, 401k contributions and paid vacation. Our record of retaining experienced workers is rare in the construction industry.  We hired John, our first carpenter, in 1986, and he remained with us until his retirement in 2009. Although our commitment to our employees costs more in dollars, it has created long-term loyalty and a reservoir of knowledge that provide our customers with extra value.

Where we work

We typically work in and around Corvallis, Philomath, and Albany. By special request, we sometimes travel farther.

Community Service

As a member of the Corvallis community, we use local suppliers and subcontractors whenever possible and support a number of community non-profit organizations and services. We donate recycled materials and construction labor to Habitat for Humanity, and helped build a structure for the Jackson Street Youth Shelter. Additionally, we contribute to three sports teams from Boys and Girls Club, the Assistance League of Corvallis, and the Linn-Benton County Food Bank.

About Greg Christianson, CGP, CAPS

Greg has been self-employed since he started his own painting business as a teenager. He received his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Montana.  After learning the basics of contracting in northern California and Alaska, he moved to Corvallis in 1986  and founded G. Christianson Construction.  His love of the outdoors is evident in his favorite hobbies: fishing, gardening, and snowboarding.  When his sons were younger, Greg was the Scout Master for Troop #1, where he shared his love of nature and outdoor activities. Currently, Greg and Rose are involved in habitat restoration of their 6-acre home site. A commitment to sustainable building led Greg to add photovoltaic panels to both his house and office building.

About Rose Christianson

Rose has worked in the management of G. Christianson Construction since 1989.  She grew up in Ohio and earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Kent State University.  She and Greg have two sons, and she is very pleased to be working with her son Carl.  Rose is actively involved in the First Congregational Church, Corvallis. Her hobbies are singing, birding, and gardening.

About Steve Schoonover

Greg and Rose first met Steve when he poured the concrete for their first home in Corvallis in 1986.  Steve’s meticulous attention to detail impressed Greg, who asked him to join his growing construction team in 1993.  Steve and his family enjoy camping, snowboarding, horses, and spending time together.  They are actively involved in mission work with the Faith Christian Fellowship, and have traveled to the Amazon basin in Brazil.
