Paul and Doris’ Master Suite Addition Photos

Carl Christianson

I just took some great “after” pictures of Paul and Doris’ Master Suite Addition, living room remodel and laundry room remodel. This project began last year in their desire to stay in their two-story home, but have an accessible master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, which would allow them to age-in-place. Two years ago, we remodeled their kitchen, nook and built a new deck with the intent of adding the master suite in the future. We hired local designer Susan Harthun to design 450 square feet just behind laundry room (and integrating the home’s exterior appearance and landscaping). The new bedroom addition is spacious with a vaulted ceiling, built in wardrobe cabinets, an Andersen door to the new deck, unique lights from Radiance by Design, red oak hardwood floors, extra insulation, large windows and lots of evening sunlight. The bathroom has a large soaking tub, marmoleum floors, an accessible custom tile shower with no curb, and a Silestone makeup counter. We reconfigured the laundry room to be more efficient. In the living room we removed the aged “faux” beams, replaced damaged drywall, installed new hardwood floors, new paint and new trim to match the rest of their home.
