Basement Build-out
Refinishing or updating your basement is a great way to add value to your property and often double your living space. We can start from a bare room and transform it into a beautiful, well lit, warm space. Our company can update your dated basement with the latest designs and materials. We can also convert your basement into a mother-in-law apartment, recreation room, additional bedroom, new bathroom, wine cellar, workshop, spa, exercise room, or any unique space. Let your imagination run wild.
Kara and Mario’s Basement Remodel
Kara and Mario started with an unfinished daylight basement. We began the process with a design contract between the owners and our company. Our design team collaborated to build a modern living space below the main floor of their home. One of the challenges was finding a kitchen layout that would work in the basement.
Often basements feel cold and uninviting. We solved that issue by heating the basement with an energy efficient mini split ductless heating system and adding recessed spot lighting. The floor system is a floating hardwood floor set over a resilient pad. Granite countertop was employed in this kitchen to give a sense of elegance to the space. Note the open upper shelving in the kitchen for plates and pot storage. This remodel entailed reworking the below floor plumbing and water system and concealing the upstairs heating ducts.
Steve and Vera’s Basement Recreation Room
This high-end custom project began as an unfinished basement at the Oregon coast. We built new walls, added plumbing, installed wainscoting, installed a stereo system and fabricated a custom wet bar. Behind the art piece, we built a walk-in wine cellar with racks for more than 1000 bottles of wine. Our company stained the woodwork to match the owner’s artwork. Steve could only find one antique wood door to fit the design, so we custom built a second distressed wood door to match. The doors both have inset glass artwork. Our carpenters built a custom light valance from ipe wood flooring around the perimeter of the room. We added built in MR-16 halogen recessed spot lighting to accent the art.

Julie’s Basement Apartment
This Corvallis daylight basement was remodeled to create a separate living quarters with a kitchen, living room, bedroom and office beneath the family above. Structural modifications were made including the cutting and removal of structural concrete walls, widening of passage ways, and strengthening beams. The concrete floor was opened up to allow for plumbing modifications. In this view, you can see the existing masonry fireplace was covered with a sculpted ceramic tile. This unique tile has a 3 dimensional aspect giving it great texture. New custom cabinets were installed to the left for her stereo system. We also installed a floating engineered wood flooring over the concrete slab.
Julie asked us to replace the basement windows to expand her view of Corvallis. We also cut in a fire escape window through the foundation wall to allow egress from the bedroom. Then we built a window well with a ladder to get to ground level, surrounded by a glass safety guardrail.
