Volunteering at Luque Family’s Habitat for Humanity Build

Carl Christianson

Last weekend, we volunteered at Habitat for Humanity’s Philomath build site for the Luque Family. We framed walls for a new home on 530 N 12th Street in Philomath. The home has about 800 square feet downstairs, and an equal amount upstairs. There will be four bedrooms upstairs. Habitat is also pouring foundations for a single floor home on the same site. The next steps will be to set the floor joists and start framing the second floor walls. I had a great time onsite and enjoyed the good weather. Please come out and join us if you are interested in learning some of the skills involved in home construction. You can sign up on Habitat’s volunteer calendar: http://www.bentonhabitat.org/volunteer/index.php
