Vaulted Open Concept Kitchen
Creating an Open floor plan
After this Corvallis couple felt "ignored" by another builder in town, we stepped in to rescue the project. We refined the design to create an open floor plan that ties the kitchen, dining and living spaces together. We removed most of wall containing the kitchen, but kept just the right amount to provide privacy from the Entry. To overcome our gray weather, the open floor plan brings in a cascade of light into the kitchen from the south windows and skylights.
“We were very happy with the results. ”
Clay & Helen Higgins, Corvallis
Add under cabinet lighting
Nothing makes a kitchen look more complete than well-placed under-cabinet kitchen lighting. It illuminates the room, creates ambiance and makes cooking, preparation and recipe reading a breeze. We recommend adding under cabinet lighting in every kitchen to provide great task lighting. Because you are not standing between the light and the counter, there are fewer shadows you have to deal with. Shadows can impede your ability to cook, so having adequate lighting can be very helpful.
Open Concept, Cork Flooring
One of the biggest benefits of Cork flooring is that it helps reduce noise, this pairs well with an open concept floor plan where noise from cooking can drift into the living room. We are proponents of Cork flooring, because it is made from recycled cork bark, thermally insulating (warm underfoot), comfortable and sustainably harvested.
