Willamette Valley Modern

This kitchen remodel was borne from a leaking water line that damaged much of the flooring and many of the existing cabinets. The G. Christianson team made a quick plan with the homeowners for the best path forward – repair the damage and create a new kitchen! Designer, Anna Clink, preserved much of the original layout, while making several improvements. The designer and homeowner determined that better cabinetry storage was crucial. The G. Christianson Custom Cabinetry division included swing-out blind corner storage to make use of all the hard-to-reach areas, custom utensil and storage roll-outs, tray dividers, and custom drawer inserts. Not only was storage important, but a modern kitchen aesthetic that blended with the rest of this Timberhill home. Many of the appliances, such as the Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, the dishwasher drawers, and an exhaust fan insert were all paneled to conceal them from view. A Blum electric-powered roll-out trash & recycle center is also concealed by panels. The new design also extended the length of the island, and added a straight-grain White Oak veneer to the cabinetry, made in Italy by TreeFrog. The soft oak color creates a warmth that the original all-white kitchen did not have. Slim cabinet edge pulls and touch-latch doors create clean lines through the space. The in-house cabinetry team put extra effort into scribing all of the cabinetry wood to the surrounding surfaces for a modern touch. Other features include a pot filler, a solid quartz slab backsplash, a quartz waterfall island end, concealed outlets, bar seating, and integrated LED under-cabinet lighting. We couldn’t be happier for these homeowners and their new kitchen!

Kerf-Cut Cabinet Details

Many panels in this kitchen include kerf cuts, shallow cuts in the surface that create the illusion of separate panels. This special door is made to look like drawers, but is a solid, single panel.

Custom Drawer Organizers & Paneled Dishwasher

Instead of using a cut-to-fit tray, our cabinet shop created custom-sized maple inserts to organize the homeowner’s various sizes of small utensils and gadgets. The organizers sit conveniently next to the paneled dishwasher drawers– perfect for easy unloading!

What our Clients are Saying

“There's a couple of unique features, certainly the stairway; That's really an organizing principle when you come into the house. When you come into the house, you see the stairs and you see right out to that super view. I think taking advantage of the view, and the way it functions and flows, I'd put it up there as one of the best projects I've done.”

Neil Richardson, Architect
