Refined Boxwood Basement

Refined Boxwood Basement

This Timberhill basement underwent a remarkable transformation, turning an outdated space into a sophisticated, multifunctional living area. Returning clients, who previously entrusted us with their kitchen renovation in 2020, invited us back to reimagine their basement to reflect the elevated design and craftsmanship found throughout the rest of their home. The expansive lower level, originally featuring three bedrooms and a bathroom, was thoughtfully redesigned within its existing footprint to include a newly added kitchenette and a fully custom entertainment center. These additions brought fresh energy and a modern aesthetic to this 1990s home. Each bedroom received a comprehensive refresh with updated trim, electrical upgrades, new doors, and a curated color palette. To create a cohesive yet personalized atmosphere, each room was painted in a unique shade of blue, contributing to the basement’s cool, calming tones. One of the bedrooms was transformed into a lively game room, complete with a versatile 3-in-1 game table offering ping-pong, pool, and air hockey, perfect for family fun. The bathroom now serves as a serene retreat, featuring a striking tile accent wall in the shower, complemented by smooth grey tiles, elegant new cabinetry, quartz countertops, and upgraded plumbing and lighting fixtures. The result is a space that feels both luxurious and restorative. At the heart of the remodel is the custom-built entertainment center, crafted by our in-house cabinet shop. This stunning feature includes open shelving, concealed storage, a sleek tambour accent wall, and integrated technology. It houses a large flat-screen TV, Samsung soundbar, and a modern linear electric fireplace. Just around the corner, the new kitchenette showcases a gorgeous tile backsplash and offers the perfect spot for refreshments during game nights or movie marathons. For our clients, it was essential that the basement become a true gathering place that is functional, welcoming, and built for family. Now complete, the space is perfectly suited for hosting game days, reunions, and everyday relaxation. The transformation not only elevated the home but also redefined how the family lives and connects in it.

What our Clients are Saying

“Working on this home was truly a one of a kind experience; every room had its own unique personality and story with custom hand-crafted tile throughout. In one of my favorite rooms, "The Swamp," every person who was involved on the project picked out tiles that they felt would represented them and signed the back. I was able to install these tiles as a memento of all of the hard work and dedication poured into the project. This was a fun acknowledgment of the craftsmanship and artistry involved.”

“We were beyond impressed with the level of professionalism, communication, execution, and customer service from the entire G. Christianson team. Our design meetings were a lot of fun and never felt stressful. In fact, the entire process never felt stressful. When it came time for their team to start construction, everyone was so professional and so nice and always made it a point to make sure we were satisfied. Execution was flawless. There weren’t any surprises, and the cost was exactly what we were told at the beginning. We especially loved the cabinet team, and got to know them well. Additionally, I know that if we were ever to encounter an issue in the future, I can always call the team and know it’ll be taken care of.”

“The designer, Elizabeth, was amazingly talented. Her knowledge of ADA construction details and resources was impressive. Not only did she succeed at designing bathrooms, toilets, and a kitchen that are fully ADA-compliant, but they are aesthetically beautiful as well as functional and practical. I had never heard of 'flying toe kicks' before, but they make it so easy for me or my husband to sit in a chair while washing dishes or preparing food in the kitchen. I had also never heard of ADA-compliant appliances, but Elizabeth had - and they make life so much easier! Cooking in my new kitchen is now a dream rather than a nightmare. ”
