Country Inspired Remodel

Country Inspired Remodel

This whole home remodel in West Hills began with a simple goal: build a dream kitchen. But after meeting in person with the owner, Carl and designer, Raegan, the homeowners realized there was more potential to improve their space than they initially imagined. Leading to a full kitchen transformation, a spa-inspired bathroom remodel, an upgraded laundry room, and a custom-designed primary bedroom closet. The kitchen was completely gutted and reimagined from the ground up. Inspired by a Country aesthetic, Raegan worked closely with the homeowners to select the perfect wood species for their new cabinetry, ultimately landing on warm, character-rich brown hickory for the base cabinets, paired with soft off-white uppers for a bright yet grounded palette. Special custom inserts throughout dramatically improved functionality and storage, making the new kitchen both beautiful and highly practical. A new heated tile floor replaced the cold and outdated original tile, creating a more inviting surface that ties together the room’s natural textures and tones. In the bathroom, the primary goal was to create space for a spa-like soaking tub, something the existing layout couldn’t accommodate. To make it work, the design pushed into the primary bedroom closet, allowing for a deep soaking tub with a tile surround and a quartz waterfall edge. The updated layout also includes a walk-in tile shower with a lighted niche, custom hickory cabinetry topped with quartz counters, and a soothing, cool grey heated tile floor that complements the blue shower tile. The result is a serene, luxurious bathroom that feels like a retreat. To replace the original primary bedroom closet, Raegan designed a recessed custom closet that maintains an open feel while still offering full-depth storage. The laundry area was also reworked for both function and flow. What was once a pass-through was enclosed into a fully dedicated laundry room, complete with new tile flooring, custom cabinetry, and a space-saving pocket door. From functional storage solutions to warm, timeless finishes, this project beautifully blends form and function across the entire home, and we couldn’t be happier for these clients as they settle into their newly transformed space.

Special Cabinet Inserts

The kitchen features a number of thoughtful custom cabinet inserts, all crafted and installed by our in-house cabinetry team.

Custom Tea Station

Since these clients are avid tea drinkers, a lower countertop tea station was incorporated into the design, creating the perfect spot to prepare and enjoy their tea.

Recessed Custom Closet

This closet appears just 12" deep but actually offers a full 24" of usable storage. This optical illusion keeps the bedroom feeling open while regaining the storage the homeowners needed.

What our Clients are Saying

“We worked with G. Christianson on a pretty major kitchen remodel, and the whole project went wonderfully from start to finish. They helped us develop our vision for the new kitchen into a concrete set of plans, and they worked with us to keep the project within our budget. As construction progressed, they were communicative and responsive. We really appreciated the weekly meetings they held with us, where they updated us on their progress and consulted with us about any changes we needed to make to our original plan due to unforeseen quirks in our mid-century house. In the end, the work is solid and beautiful, and our new kitchen is a joy to cook and bake in. We really appreciated the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and deep knowledge of the whole G. Christianson team. We felt like we were in good hands the entire time we worked with them. Just as importantly, everyone we interacted with during the project was friendly and professional, from Carl, the owner, to Anna, the designer we worked with, to Ben and the G. Christianson crew, to all of the subcontractors they brought in, and everyone else. We wouldn't hesitate to work with G. Christianson again if we ever have more remodeling work to do, and we highly recommend them.”
