Asain Themed Mid-Century Remodel
In this Home Remodel, we completely demolished the existing dining, living, and family rooms down to the foundation. By renovating the foundation, we were able to enlarge the spaces and make them more livable. The duct work below the floor was upgraded during the home remodeling. We framed new (thicker) walls and installed fiberglass BIBS (blown-in blanket system) insulation in the walls and ceiling. The owner liked the look of modern materials, so with our interior design skills, Paralam beams were selected and used for headers and structural members. We created custom, clear vertical grain fir cabinets. The position of the entry door was relocated and numerous upgrades were made to the home during its complete renovation. We remodeled the kitchen, the main entrance to the house, and the upstairs bedroom suite as well.
“I’ve had major renovations done on four houses, including a 100 year old 3-story townhouse in Chicago, this has been by far the best and smoothest remodel experience in my life”
David Fiske and Valerie Lau, Corvallis
Project Details
Ipe Hardwood Flooring
The floors, decks and some exterior window trim are Ipe hardwood. This is a tropical hardwood that is sustainably harvested. It takes a skilled and experienced carpenter to successfully install this extremely hard and durable product.
Aging In Place
This dishwasher was raised for ease of use. We have extensive knowledge and experience working with clients who want to remain in their home comfortably for years to come, as well as clients with disabilities.
Copper Rain Chain
Instead of standard downspouts, we installed a hammered copper cup rain chain. A note of caution: in rainy, blustery Corvallis, some may regret this choice since water splashes well beyond the chain.
Fire charred pantry
To create a unique look, we torched the wood doors of the cabinets, then wirebushed loose char off, before sealing the cabinets with lacquer. Please ask us about custom touches for your project.

What our Clients are Saying
“The client and I searched for a countertop slab that contained earthy green tones to suit her color palette. We ended up finding Moon Ray Quartzite located in Redmond, Oregon. It was perfect: a natural material, striking vein pattern, and plenty of green coloring. The natural stone is the true highlight of this space!”
Anna Clink, Interior Designer
See the Natural Quartzite Kitchen & Bath project“We had a full kitchen remodel and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Sarah, our designer, did a beautiful job of incorporating our wishes into the design, while ensuring that the design fit with the rest of the house. All of the employees, as well as the subcontractors they chose, were professional and wonderful to have in our home. The cabinet makers were meticulous about every detail in the cabinets and trim. G. Christianson Construction was responsive to every question and concern we had during the entire process. We love the results!”
Ray & Greta Brooks, Corvallis
“We found that G. Christianson has a focus on quality in every detail. This made them very easy to work with and has resulted in a beautiful remodel of the master suite in our home. Tony, the carpenter, in particular made sure every detail he worked with was perfect and made sure the site was cleaned up every day, even when the mess was left by a third party contractor. Thanks to all the team at G. Christianson for the excellent work.”
