A sleek new welcome to students
Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in Corvallis contacted us when they realized that their front entry facade was quickly becoming unsafe due to extensive dryrot. We proposed a window system supported by Douglas fir glulam beams with commercial glass. We began construction in July, and then discovered major dryrot in the canopy's main support beam. So we replaced the canopy with a much more attractive version. You can see a "before" picture in the gallery above. We finished the whole project ahead of time, well before the start of school.

“It was a pleasure to work with Carl and the crew on this extensive project! Thanks so much for including the before and after pictures on your website. This work should now last for another fifty years or more!”

PROJECT DETAILS

Sierra Pacific Wall System
We use Sierra Pacific architectural wall systems to add natural light to any home or business, while enabling you to make a big, bold statement. With their bold Douglas fir glulam beams and load bearing structural integrity, they are a distinctive upgrade over ordinary aluminum sunrooms, storefront glazings or aluminum curtain walls. These energy efficient, highly engineered wall systems can easily incorporate doors, operable windows and skylights.

Beautiful (durable) doors
We know the heavy traffic and severe conditions a commercial building contends with. Consequently, we suggested ThermaTru Fiberglass front doors. These fiberglass doors look like wood, but they don’t warp or rot like wood, or dent or rust like steel. In fact, a fiberglass door needs only a fraction of the maintenance wood and steel doors do. And the inside of a ThermaTru fiberglass door is filled with an exceptional heat- and cold-resistant insulation that helps keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer.

Dryrot is common in Oregon
Our wet, temperate climate is a prime location for dryrot to occur. When wood is not protected from long term water exposure it will dryrot and lose its structural strength. At this fraternity the whole two story wall would move when you leaned on it. If you discover this in your home or deck it is urgent, please give us a call.
What our Clients are Saying
“G. Christianson Construction did a wonderful job on our kitchen and front entry remodel. Cabinet shop manager Ron participated in a number of pre-construction meetings with designer Anna, collaboratively working together to build the kitchen of our dreams. Working with G. Christianson Construction was a pleasurable experience based on the professional and knowledgeable staff. We highly recommend them for your project and would not hesitate to use them again on our future remodeling projects!”

See the Elegant Country Kitchen project“There's a couple of unique features, certainly the stairway; That's really an organizing principle when you come into the house. When you come into the house, you see the stairs and you see right out to that super view. I think taking advantage of the view, and the way it functions and flows, I'd put it up there as one of the best projects I've done.”
Neil Richardson, Architect
See the Vineyard House project“I love working with the Christianson crews. They are thoroughly professional and incredibly detail-focused. They kept the worksite perfectly clean and tidy, and never skimp. Our screened porch (2015) and remodeled kitchen (2020) are our favorite, most-used, rooms in the house.”
